Suggest an alternative to penalty shoot out (Discussion)

Hey eveyrone,

penalty shoo out is an old method to decide the winner at the end of match, but i think it is not a convincing way to decide the winner… So can u suggest some other alternative to find the winner? Here are few suggestions from me… 1. Play without goalkeeper after extra time and team who scores first will win… 2. Free kick from one goal to another without goalkeeper on goal… both team gets 5 kick… team with max will win

I actually like the penalty shoot outs, but I guess there can be better methods. Extra time or a golden goal (where the team who scores first wins) are both popular in some tournaments. Your idea of playing without a goalkeeper can be interesting too.

Whatever they do, let’s hope it’s not a coin flip (I believe it used to be a long long time ago).

Penalty shots is the best way to do it. However if you want to have some fun with it play an 11 minute extra time period. At the begining of the extra time each coach submits a list of the opponents fielded team. At one minute intervals each team looses a player in the order that the opposing coach picked. Most goals at the end of the 11 minutes wins.

I hate penalties but they work and do the job when teams could otherwise play forever. There really isn’t a solution to the pk’s because there is only so much time teams can play. Good ideas and thoughts

Watching the Roma – Arsenal match should provide enough evidence in this debate. The goals in 120 minutes were rare and these two sides could have played all night.
